Instructions
- Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well blended.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and egg one at a time.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined.
- Chill the Dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about one hour.
- Roll Out & Cut Shapes: On a floured surface, roll out chilled dough to about ¼ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake & Cool: Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are firm but centers remain soft. Cool on wire racks before decorating.
