Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1/2 cup hazelnut spread
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs with vanilla extract until fluffy. Gradually combine both mixtures until smooth.
  4. Pour batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Once baked, immediately invert the cake onto a clean kitchen towel sprinkled with powdered sugar. Carefully peel off parchment paper.
  6. While still warm, roll up the cake tightly in the towel from one short end to another and let it cool completely.
  7. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold in hazelnut spread until fully combined.
  8. Unroll your cooled cake and spread this filling evenly over it.
  9. Roll the cake back up tightly without the towel this time. Place seam-side down on a serving platter and chill in refrigerator for about an hour before decorating.
