Ingredients

  • 2 medium oranges, sliced thinly
  • 2 medium lemons, sliced thinly
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the oranges and lemons into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick. Remove any seeds.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Gently add the citrus slices to the syrup and let them simmer for about 45 minutes until they become translucent and tender.
  4. Once done, remove the slices from the syrup using tongs and place them on a wire rack to dry completely (1 hour to overnight).
  5. Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler until smooth.
  6. Dip each dried citrus slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coating.
  7. Place the coated slices on parchment paper or back on the wire rack to set. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
