Description

Indulge in this rich Shrimp and Crab Au Gratin, featuring succulent seafood enveloped in a creamy cheese sauce, perfect for impressing guests or enjoying family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup lump crab meat
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (mix of sharp and mild)
  • 2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 3 minutes. Gently fold in crab meat and remove from heat.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Whisk in flour until smooth; cook for about 1 minute until golden brown. Gradually add heavy cream while whisking to avoid lumps.
  4. Once the sauce thickens (about 5 minutes), stir in cheddar cheese and Old Bay seasoning until melted.
  5. Fold the cooked shrimp and crab mixture into the cheesy sauce, ensuring everything is coated. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle additional cheese on top if desired. Bake for about 20 minutes or until bubbly and golden. Let cool slightly before serving with crusty bread or salad.
