Description

Warm your heart with this savory meat and potato pie, featuring a flaky crust and spiced filling that’s perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 68 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. Cut in chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough forms.
  4. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Boil diced potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes; drain and mash.
  7. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onion until translucent.
  8. Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned, breaking up clumps (about 10-12 minutes).
  9. Stir in salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves; mix well.
  10. Fold in mashed potatoes until combined.
  11. Roll out half of the chilled dough on a floured surface; fit it into a greased pie pan.
  12. Spoon in the meat filling evenly.
  13. Roll out the second half of the dough and place it over the filling; crimp edges to seal.
  14. Cut slits on top for ventilation.
  15. Bake for about 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
