Description

Chocolate Yule Log Swiss Roll is a festive dessert featuring a light sponge cake rolled with a creamy dark chocolate filling, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 5 oz dark chocolate, melted
  • Powdered sugar (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a jelly roll pan (15×10 inches) and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs until thick and lemon-colored. Gradually add melted butter and mix well.
  4. Combine both mixtures until smooth.
  5. Spread the batter evenly onto the prepared pan and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until it springs back when lightly touched.
  6. Once baked, place a clean kitchen towel over the cake and carefully flip it onto the towel. Peel off parchment paper.
  7. Starting from one end, roll up the cake tightly using the towel. Allow it to cool completely.
  8. While cooling, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold in melted dark chocolate until combined.
  9. Unroll your cooled cake carefully and spread an even layer of filling over it.
  10. Roll it back up without the towel this time, placing seam side down on a serving platter.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
